Professor Fournier is the Spokesperson of the Christmas Fundraising Campaign for La Petite Maison!
It is with great honour that Professor Pascale Fournier accepted to participate in the Christmas fundraising campaign for La Petite Maison. Founded in 1977, the organization that is dear to her heart welcomes and accompanies single-parent women and their children by offering different services such as daycare and workshops. The organization dedicates itself to individualised support and various services to families to help them develop confidence and automony. La Petite Maison is a living space, a place of dialogue, of mutual help and learning for women living alone with their child or children.
Supporting the organization that contributes remarkably to improve the status of women and children is paramount to Professor Fournier, whose academic work relates to the status of women and the respect of their rights. Indeed, as commissioner at Commission des droits de la personnes et de la jeunesse and as a researcher in several research centres including the Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory on the Rights of the Child at the University of Ottawa and the Centre for Research in Ethics at the Université de Montréal, Professor Fournier sees first hand the importance of providing support to women living in precarious situation. In her research in family law, Professor Fournier had the opportunity to meet minorized women from Canada, Lebanon, Israel, Germany, Great Britain and France to discuss their experience relating to marriage, divorce and child custody. Professor Fournier is therefore especially sensitive to the path and complexity of the experience lived by women leaving both their country and their home. Hence, Professor Fournier is honored to pursue her commitment with La Petite Maison which works with many immigrant women in need of support.
This is why Pascale Fournier encourages you to participate in in La Petite Maison’s Christmas fundraising campaign. This Christmas fundraising campaign will allow the organization of a great celebration on December 18, 2017. In addition to a nice meal, the single mothers and their family will enjoy activities, face painting and a visit from Santa Claus much to the delight of young and old alike.
